The RBI conducts the Grade B exam to select eligible candidates for the posts of Officers in Grade ‘B’ (General) – DR, DEPR (Department of Economic and Policy Research), and DSIM (Department of Economic and Policy Research). A total number of 322 vacancies are released for recruitment. These posts are for the Common Seniority Group (CSG) Streams in the RBI.

The Online Application Process for the RBI Grade B Recruitment has started on 28th January 2021.
Step 1:Click on the direct link given above and proceed to the new registration.
Step 2:Fill the application form with valid details i.e personal and academic details.
Step 3:Keep with you one Photo ID Card viz. Aadhaar Card/PAN Card/Voter Card/Passport/Driving Licence/Any other Photo ID Card issued by the State/Central Government.
Step 4:Fill in the details as mentioned in the Photo ID proof in the online application form.
Step 5:Carefully upload the scanned copy of the required documents i.e. your photograph and signature.
Step 6:After uploading the required photograph proceed to pay the RBI Grade B Application fee through your Credit Card/Debit Card/Internet Banking/Cash Cards/Wallets, etc.
Step 7:Make sure that you are using a valid email ID that you use till the declaration of results.
Step 8:Finally, submit the Application Form.

RBI Grade B Eligibility Criteria 2021
The Recruitment of RBI Grade B officer eligibility criteria is based on Age and Educational Qualification. To apply against the RBI Grade B Vacancies, you need to qualify these eligibility standards as prescribed by the Reserve Bank of India.
1. RBI Grade B Age Limit
You need to be under the below mentioned upper & lower age limit (as on 1st January 2021) to apply for RBI Grade B Officer.
- Minimum Age – 21 years
- Maximum Age – 30 years
RBI Grade B Age Relaxation
The Age Relaxation for RBI Grade B Exam is prescribed as per the Govt. norms. The information below will take you through the Age Relaxation criteria for different categories –
- SC/ST – 5 years
- OBC (Non – Creamy Layer) – 3 years
- PWD – 10 years
- PwD (OBC) – 13 years.
- And PwD (SC/ST) – 15 years
2.RBI Grade B Educational Qualification
RBI Grade B Educational qualifications are different/varies from post to post. The information below will take you through the educational qualification required for each post.
Officers in Grade ‘B’ (DR) – (General)
You should have at least 60% marks aggregate (50% for SC/ST/PWD)/an equivalent grade in Graduation OR Post-graduation with 55% marks (passing marks for SC/ST/PWD)
Officers in Grade ‘B’ (DR) – DEPR
Master’s Degree in Economics / Econometrics / Quantitative Economics / Mathematical Economics / Integrated Economics Course/ Finance, with a minimum of 55% aggregate marks
Officers in Grade ‘B’ (DR) – DSIM
You should have fulfilled any one of the following criteria below:
- Master’s Degree in Statistics/ Mathematical Statistics/Mathematical Economics/Statistics & Informatics/Econometrics from IIT-Kharagpur or Applied Statistics & Informatics from IIT-Bombay with at least 55% marks in aggregate of all semester/years or an equivalent grade.
- You should have a Master’s Degree in Mathematics with at least 55% marks in aggregate of all semester/years and 1-year PG Diploma in Statistics or related subjects from the reputed institute
- You should have a Master of Statistics Academic & Science from the Indian Statistical Institute with a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate of all semesters/years
- You should have a PG Diploma in Business Analytics (PGDBA) jointly offered by ISI Kolkata, IIT Kharagpur, and IIM Calcutta with at least 55% marks in aggregate of all semesters/years or equivalent grade.
Note: For SC/ST/PWD candidates, the minimum marks required in the Master’s Degree is 50% in aggregate of all semesters/years or an equivalent grade.
RBI Grade B Number of Attempts
- The number of attempts allowed in the RBI Grade B exam for the General Category candidates is 6 times (for Prelims/Phase-I). After this, they would be considered not eligible to apply.
- There are no restrictions in the case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/PWD.
RBI Grade B Selection Process 2021
The RBI Grade B selection process is based on three Phases i.e. Phase-I, Phase-II, and Interview (General). In the case of other posts i.e DSIM/DEPR, there shall be only one exam and directly an interview. You need to clear all these phases of the selection process in order to get selected for the post of Grade B Officer in the RBI. RBI Grade B Prelims
The Grade B Officer exam will consist of Objective Type or MCQ. It will be held for a duration of 2 hours (200 marks). The number of questions for each section mentioned is as per the previously conducted exams. The notification for the 2021 exam does not mention any information on the weightage of each section.

RBI Grade B Mains
After you clear Phase I of the selection process you will be called to appear for Phase II. Each paper in the phase-II will have a different duration.

RBI Grade B Interview Process
After you clear Phase I & II, you will be called for the next round i.e. Interview. This is the last round after which the Final Merit List will be released.
- The Interview round will be for 75 marks.
- The RBI will convey the details regarding the Interview round through the Call-Letter.
RBI Grade B Exam Pattern – DSIM/DEPR
There shall be only one exam for this post and later directly an interview. Paper I and II of the DSIM posts will consist of Economics paper whereas for the DEPR posts papers will be on Statistisc.
